Foundayo (orforglipron) is Eli Lilly's brand-new GLP-1 pill — FDA approved April 1, 2026 and shipping from LillyDirect since April 6. Because it just launched, savings information online is thin and often wrong. We pulled the terms directly from Lilly's coverage pages: there is a real coupon, and the self-pay pricing is among the cheapest in the entire GLP-1 class.
Direct answer: Commercially insured patients can use the Foundayo Savings Card to pay as little as $25/month, capped at $100 per 1-month fill and $1,000 per calendar year (maximum 10 fills/year, expires 12/31/2026). Everyone else gets Lilly's self-pay pricing — $149/month for the 0.8 mg starter dose, $199 for 2.5 mg, and $299 for the 5.5-17.2 mg doses — through LillyDirect or with a free GoodRx coupon at retail pharmacies. List price is $649/month; GoodRx puts the average retail at $782.26. Government plans are excluded from the card, but a Medicare Bridge program offers $50/month starting July 1, 2026.
What Is Foundayo?
Foundayo is the first oral small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist — not a peptide like semaglutide, which is why it absorbs without the food-and-water rules that make Rybelsus and the Wegovy pill awkward. Lilly's positioning is blunt: it is "the only GLP-1 pill that can be taken any time of day — no planning around food or drink."
The essentials:
- Approved for: adults with obesity, or overweight plus a weight-related condition — for weight loss and maintenance. It is not approved for type 2 diabetes.
- Dosing: once-daily tablet, titrated through 0.8 → 2.5 → 5.5 → 9 → 14.5 → 17.2 mg.
- Results: at the top 17.2 mg dose, average weight loss of 11.1% (24.9 lb) over 72 weeks in adults without diabetes, and 9.6% (21.2 lb) in adults with type 2 diabetes.
- Approval speed: first new molecular entity cleared under the FDA's National Priority Voucher program — 50 days from filing, the fastest NME approval since 2002.

Foundayo Savings Card: Official Terms
The coupon for commercially insured patients, from Lilly's coverage and savings page:
| Term | Detail |
|---|---|
| You pay | As little as $25/month |
| Per-fill cap | Up to $100 per 1-month prescription |
| Annual cap | Up to $1,000 per calendar year |
| Maximum fills | 10 per calendar year |
| Expiration | 12/31/2026 |
| Insurance required | Commercial only — Medicare, Medicare Part D/Advantage, Medicaid, and state programs excluded |
Caveats: the card is "NOT INSURANCE," cannot be combined with other discounts, and Lilly can terminate it at its discretion. Post-transaction reimbursement requests are accepted until March 31, 2027. Note the tight caps — $100/fill and $1,000/year is much thinner than Lilly's Trulicity card ($1,950/year), so a high copay will blow through it. Activate the card through LillyDirect Pharmacy or via the savings program form for use at other pharmacies.
Foundayo Self-Pay Price (No Insurance Needed)
This is where Foundayo genuinely undercuts the market. Lilly's published self-pay pricing, available through LillyDirect and matched dose-for-dose by GoodRx at 70,000+ retail pharmacies:
| Dose | Self-pay price (per month) |
|---|---|
| 0.8 mg (starter) | $149 |
| 2.5 mg | $199 |
| 5.5 mg | $299 |
| 9 mg | $299 |
| 14.5 mg | $299 (45-day refill requirement) |
| 17.2 mg | $299 (45-day refill requirement) |
Against the $649 list price (and $782.26 average retail per GoodRx), the self-pay channel is a 54-77% discount with zero eligibility hoops — no insurance, no income test. Foundayo is brand-only with no generic, but as a small molecule it will eventually be far easier to genericize than the peptide GLP-1s.
No insurance, or weighing Foundayo against other cash options? Yücca telehealth — online evaluation, doctor-prescribed compounded Semaglutide+ or Tirzepatide+ filled by a licensed US pharmacy, from $146/month. (Partner link: we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.)
Insurance and Medicare Status
Foundayo is two months old, so commercial formulary coverage is still being negotiated plan by plan — assume prior authorization or outright exclusion until your plan says otherwise, and lean on the self-pay price in the meantime. The notable exception is government coverage: under the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge demonstration, eligible Medicare beneficiaries can get Foundayo for $50/month beginning July 1, 2026 — the first time a weight-loss GLP-1 has had a defined Medicare price path at launch.
How to get it, in order:
- Prescription from your clinician or a telehealth provider (Foundayo is available via LillyDirect's platform and Amazon Pharmacy, with same-day delivery in nearly 3,000 cities).
- Commercial insurance? Activate the savings card → as little as $25/month within the caps.
- No coverage? Use LillyDirect self-pay or a GoodRx coupon → $149-$299/month by dose.
- Medicare? Wait for the $50/month Bridge pricing from July 1, 2026.
Foundayo vs Wegovy Pill vs Rybelsus on Price
| Foundayo (orforglipron) | Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) | Rybelsus (oral semaglutide) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approved for | Weight loss | Weight loss | Type 2 diabetes |
| Molecule type | Small molecule | Peptide | Peptide |
| Food/water rules | None — any time of day | Empty stomach, 30 min before food/drink | Empty stomach, 30 min, ≤4 oz water |
| Self-pay price | $149-$299/mo | $149/mo | None — ~$950-$1,105 cash |
| Savings card | $25/mo, $1,000/yr cap | Via NovoCare offers | $25/mo, $100/mo cap |
| Weight loss (top dose) | 11.1% / 72 wk | Higher % in trials | Not approved for weight |
The honest read: the Wegovy pill produced a higher percentage weight loss in its trials and matches Foundayo's $149 entry price, but Foundayo wins decisively on convenience (no fasting rules) and keeps maintenance doses at a flat $299. Rybelsus is not really a competitor here — it is a diabetes drug with no cash program. Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a Foundayo coupon for people without insurance? Not a card per se — the savings card requires commercial insurance. But the self-pay program is open to everyone: $149/month (0.8 mg) to $299/month (5.5-17.2 mg) via LillyDirect or with a free GoodRx coupon at 70,000+ pharmacies.
How much is Foundayo with insurance? With a commercial plan and the savings card, as little as $25/month — but savings cap at $100 per fill and $1,000 per year (10 fills max). If your plan doesn't cover Foundayo yet, self-pay at $149-$299 may actually beat your post-cap cost.
Does Medicare cover Foundayo? Manufacturer cards exclude Medicare, but the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge demonstration prices Foundayo at $50/month for eligible beneficiaries starting July 1, 2026.
Is Foundayo cheaper than the Wegovy pill? They tie at the start — both are $149/month self-pay at the entry dose. Foundayo's maintenance doses run $299/month; its advantage is dosing freedom (no empty-stomach rules), while oral Wegovy showed greater percentage weight loss in trials.
What is Foundayo's list price? $649/month regardless of dose, with an average retail around $782.26 — which is why virtually everyone should buy through the savings card, self-pay program, or GoodRx rather than walking in cold.
