Semaglutide is one molecule sold through about a dozen doors, priced from $25 a month to over $499 a month for the same active ingredient. This page prices every door we could verify at the source, ranks them, and states the eligibility gate on each. Every figure was loaded from the seller's own site on 2 August 2026.
We read four of the pages currently ranking for this search. The pattern is consistent: the cheapest number in the title is a promotional or site-exclusive telehealth rate, and the manufacturer routes that beat it for most insured readers sit near the bottom, if at all. This page runs the ranking the other way, cheapest actual outlay first, regardless of who pays us.
The direct answer: with commercial insurance covering Wegovy or Ozempic, the cheapest semaglutide is $25 a month on Novo Nordisk's savings card, and nothing here beats it. Paying cash, the lowest we verified is $125 a month for compounded semaglutide at our partner Yücca, on a six month commitment. For FDA-approved brand semaglutide on cash, the floor is $149 a month for the Wegovy pill at its two discounted strengths.
Affiliate disclosure, placed above the recommendation on purpose
Middleway Nutrition earns a commission if you start a plan through the Yücca links here. Yücca is the only monetised link on the page. Novo Nordisk, NovoCare, Costco and Sesame pay us nothing, and three of their routes rank above Yücca for readers who qualify. We left them there. If your insurance covers Wegovy, the honest advice is to use your $25 savings card and ignore our partner entirely.
Our top pick for cash payers: Yücca, from $125/month
Yücca Semaglutide+ is the lowest cash price we personally verified for a prescribed, US pharmacy filled semaglutide plan. Verified 2 August 2026: $125/month on the six month plan, billed as $750 total, or $146/month month to month. The $125 rate is attached to a promotional code the site displays as YUCCA4LIFE.
Three qualifiers. The $125 is a six month price, not a three month price, and $750 leaves your account against a plan you cannot part-refund. It is compounded semaglutide, which is not FDA-approved. And with commercial insurance covering Wegovy, your savings card price is $25, beating this by $100 a month.

Key Takeaways
- $25/month is the real floor with commercial insurance covering Wegovy or Ozempic, capped at $100/month in savings. Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and VA are excluded
- $125/month is the lowest cash price we verified, at Yücca, requiring $750 up front for six months. We are not claiming it is the cheapest in existence: one competing roundup advertises a lower headline figure we could not confirm
- The Wegovy pill is the cheapest FDA-approved semaglutide on cash at $149/month for the 1.5 mg and 4 mg strengths. NovoCare states the 4 mg rate holds through 31 August 2026, then moves to $199
- $199/month for a pen is an introductory price. It covers the first two fills through 31 December 2026, then $349/month
- Ozempic and Wegovy are the same molecule at different labels and self-pay prices. The 2 mg Ozempic pen is $499/month, the highest figure here
- Compounded semaglutide is not FDA-approved. FDA enforcement discretion for mass compounding ended in 2025, and lawful compounding is now limited to patient-specific 503A prescriptions supported by a clinical rationale
- Nothing here is medical advice, and no dosing guidance appears on this page

Two routes are deliberately absent: undiscounted retail cash and pharmacy discount cards. Both are discussed below but not ranked, because we could not load either at a primary source. Numbers we could not open are numbers we do not print.
The $25 Floor: Novo Nordisk's Savings Cards
If commercial insurance covers your prescription, stop reading the telehealth comparisons. Verified at wegovy.com and ozempic.com on 2 August 2026, both offers take a covered fill to as little as $25 per month, subject to a maximum saving of $100 per month. Ozempic's states eligibility for up to 48 months and a $300 maximum across a three month prescription. The Rybelsus offer, verified at NovoCare, is $25 for a one, two or three month prescription.
The exclusion is identical on all three: a government-funded prescription benefit disqualifies you, and Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and VA are named. Three plan types that sound governmental are not treated as such here, being Federal Employees Health Benefits, ACA exchange plans and state employee plans. Hold both a commercial and a government plan and Novo counts you as government insured.
The highest value item on this page costs one phone call: check your formulary before paying anyone, us included, for a cash plan. Our Wegovy cost without insurance guide covers a denial.
Medicare Has a $50 Route Now
Verified at wegovy.com on 2 August 2026: eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries can access Wegovy at $50 per month through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge programme, running 1 July 2026 to 31 December 2027. It appeared in none of the roundups we read and beats every cash option here for the population it covers. It is explicitly time limited, which is why we date it.
Compounded Semaglutide: The Cash Floor, and Its Real Terms

Compounded semaglutide is the same active molecule as Wegovy and Ozempic, prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy rather than by Novo Nordisk. It is not FDA-approved. The FDA reviews finished drug products, and a compounded preparation is not one, so nobody has evaluated that product for safety, efficacy or manufacturing consistency.
The regulatory position moved recently. During the shortage, FDA enforcement discretion let compounders produce off-the-shelf copies at volume. That discretion ended in 2025. Lawful compounding is now limited to patient-specific 503A prescriptions written for an identified patient with a documented clinical rationale for why the approved product will not do. The surviving lane is smaller and more clinically gated than the 2024 grey market, and any company still selling semaglutide like a subscription box deserves scrutiny.
Inside that lane, Yücca is our partner and top cash pick, at $125/month on the six month plan ($750 total) or $146/month month to month, verified 2 August 2026. Yücca states it uses US licensed pharmacies and providers in all 50 states with expedited shipping, and its FAQ confirms these are compounded medications with the same active ingredients as the brand drugs. Its tirzepatide plans run $225 to $258, consistent with the gap in our cheapest tirzepatide ranking.
Weigh the commitment. Divide $750 by six, not three. If you are unsure you will tolerate the medication, the $146 rate costs $21 more per month and buys the option to stop.
The Wegovy Pill: Cheapest FDA-Approved Semaglutide on Cash
This is the route the competing roundups underweight, and the best value here for a cash payer who wants an approved product. Verified at wegovy.com and NovoCare on 2 August 2026:
- 1.5 mg and 4 mg tablets: $149/month. The 4 mg rate is stated as holding through 31 August 2026, after which NovoCare lists 4 mg at $199/month
- 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg tablets: $199/month, as an introductory rate through 31 December 2026
- 1 mg, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg tablets: $349/month
So the headline $149 is real, FDA-approved, and only $24 above our compounded partner's six month rate with no lock-in. It is strength-specific: the price follows which strength you are prescribed, not which plan you buy. That is why "$149 versus $125" is not the whole story. Detail in our Wegovy pill cost breakdown.
Ozempic's oral presentation is priced the same way, from $149/month, varying by strength, per NovoCare.
Self-Pay Pens: Why $199 Is Not the Price You Will Pay

The $199 figure appears in almost every competing article and in Novo's own marketing, and it is widely misread. Verified at wegovy.com and ozempic.com on 2 August 2026, it covers the first two monthly fills only, at the two lowest pen strengths, through 31 December 2026. After that:
- Wegovy pen, standard strengths: $349/month
- Wegovy HD 7.2 mg: $399/month
- Ozempic pen, 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg and 1 mg: $349/month
- Ozempic pen, 2 mg: $499/month
Ozempic's fine print defines one month as one box containing one pen. Note the ladder: the same molecule costs $150 more per month at 2 mg than at 1 mg. Budget a year of self-pay Ozempic against $349 to $499, not $199. Our Ozempic cost without insurance guide runs that in full.
One competitor page still quotes $349 as the flat uninsured Wegovy price with no mention of the $199 tier, describing the market before the current offer. Here, a six month old article is a misleading one.
Costco and Sesame: A Care Fee Plus the Same $349
Verified at sesamecare.com on 2 August 2026. Costco Pharmacy fills Wegovy or Ozempic injections at $349 per month with a valid prescription, which Sesame calls roughly half the traditional price, and lists the Wegovy pill from $149 per month. Those match NovoCare, so Costco is not buying you a cheaper drug.
What Costco and Sesame add is the clinical wrapper. Sesame states existing Costco Weight Loss enrollees continue to be billed $179 every three months, and that Success by Sesame is priced from $59 per month on an annual subscription, covering video consults, labs, messaging, prescriptions where appropriate and follow-up. Add care to medication and a self-pay injection lands near $408 per month all in.
Fair for managed care, poor for medication alone. If you only want the drug at $349, skip the programme fee. More in our Costco Wegovy guide.
What a Year Actually Costs

| Route | Year-one cost | Assumptions |
|---|---|---|
| Savings card, plan covers it | ~$300 | 12 fills at $25, cap not hit |
| Medicare GLP-1 Bridge | ~$600 | 12 fills at $50 |
| Yücca, six month plan renewed | ~$1,500 | $750 twice, price holds |
| Yücca, month to month | ~$1,752 | $146 across 12 months |
| Wegovy pill at $149 | ~$1,788 | A $149 strength throughout, not guaranteed |
| Self-pay pen, realistic | ~$3,890 | 2 fills at $199, then 10 at $349 |
| Costco or Sesame, all in | ~$4,896 | $349 medication plus $59 care |
| Ozempic 2 mg self-pay | ~$5,988 | $499 across 12 months |
The spread is roughly $5,700 a year for the same molecule, decided by paperwork rather than pharmacology. For the molecule-by-molecule comparison see our cheapest GLP-1 ranking, and for semaglutide priced by product rather than route, our semaglutide price guide.
What We Could Not Verify, and Why We Are Saying So
This section exists because none of the competing pages have one.
A lower headline figure is advertised elsewhere. One top ranking page advertises a semaglutide price below anything in our table, attributed to a provider named Fridays Health. We could not verify it: that page returned HTTP 403, and fridayshealth.com currently resolves to a parked GoDaddy for-sale page rather than a telehealth service. Brands move domains, so that is not evidence the provider does not exist. It does mean we will not repeat the number.
A site-exclusive rate below ours. Another roundup lists a month-to-month rate at a provider called Embody that undercuts our partner, described there as an exclusive negotiated for its readers. We could not confirm it at the provider's own site, so the number is absent here. The mechanic matters: exclusive rates in these roundups are commercial arrangements, and the publisher earns on the referral, exactly as we do.
Brand list prices. No Novo Nordisk page we loaded stated a list price, and the pages that would have carried it returned 404. We left list prices out rather than repeat a figure sourced from another blog. Same for the four figure Rybelsus list price quoted widely elsewhere: we verified the Rybelsus savings card at $25 at NovoCare, but not the list.
Discount card prices. GoodRx redirected us to a block page and BuzzRx returned 403, so no coupon price appears in our table. Discount cards do work on semaglutide, but they discount from retail rather than competing with manufacturer self-pay.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest semaglutide in 2026?
With commercial insurance covering Wegovy or Ozempic, $25 a month on Novo Nordisk's savings card. Paying cash, the lowest we verified is $125 a month at Yücca on the six month plan, then $149 for the Wegovy pill at its discounted strengths. We are not claiming no cheaper price exists, only that this is the cheapest we confirmed ourselves on 2 August 2026.
What is the cheapest semaglutide without insurance?
$125 a month at Yücca on the six month plan, which requires $750 up front and is compounded rather than FDA-approved. For an FDA-approved product, $149 a month for the Wegovy pill at the 1.5 mg and 4 mg strengths, with the 4 mg rate rising to $199 after 31 August 2026.
Is compounded semaglutide FDA-approved?
No. It contains the same active molecule as Wegovy and Ozempic, but the compounded product itself has not been reviewed or approved by the FDA for safety, efficacy or manufacturing quality. Since enforcement discretion ended in 2025, lawful compounding is limited to patient-specific 503A prescriptions with a documented clinical rationale.
Is the $199 Wegovy price permanent?
No. Verified at wegovy.com on 2 August 2026, $199 applies to the first two monthly fills at the two lowest pen strengths, through 31 December 2026. After that the standard self-pay price is $349 a month, or $399 for the HD 7.2 mg pen.
Can I use a Novo savings card if I have Medicare?
No. Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and VA beneficiaries are excluded from the $25 offers. Eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries have a separate route: the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge programme at $50 a month for Wegovy, running to 31 December 2027. Federal Employees Health Benefits, ACA exchange and state employee plans are not treated as government programmes here.
Why is Ozempic more expensive than Wegovy at some doses?
Because the self-pay ladders are set separately by strength. Ozempic is $349 at 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg and 1 mg, and $499 at 2 mg, while Wegovy's standard pen is $349 with a $399 HD tier. Same molecule, two labels, two schedules.
Is the Wegovy pill cheaper than compounded semaglutide?
At its discounted strengths it is close: $149 for the pill against $125 compounded on a six month commitment, and the pill is FDA-approved with no lock-in. At the $349 strengths compounded is substantially cheaper. It depends on which strength you are prescribed.
Does Costco sell semaglutide cheaper than anywhere else?
No. Costco Pharmacy fills Wegovy and Ozempic at $349 a month, matching NovoCare's self-pay price, and the Wegovy pill from $149. Costco and Sesame add clinical care for a separate fee, from $59 a month or $179 a quarter.
