Semaglutide Price (2026): Brand, Compounded, and Tablet Costs

Semaglutide spans a 15x price range — from a $149/month tablet to a $1,349/month brand pen — depending on which product you buy and how you pay. Here is the whole-molecule price table for Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, the Ozempic pill, and compounded semaglutide, plus a cost-per-milligram angle nobody else runs.

Semaglutide is one molecule sold under four brand names — Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, and the new Ozempic pill — plus a shrinking pool of compounded versions. Because of that, "semaglutide price" has no single answer: the same active ingredient runs anywhere from $88 to $1,349 per month depending on the product and how you pay. This page lays out the entire molecule-wide price map in one place.

Direct answer: As of June 2026, the list prices are roughly $1,349/month for Wegovy, ~$998/month for Ozempic, and ~$998/month for Rybelsus (now being rebranded as the Ozempic pill). Almost nobody pays those. The real prices most people pay: $149/month for the Ozempic/Wegovy tablet through NovoCare, $199 intro then $349/month for the Wegovy pen, $25/month with a commercial-insurance savings card, and $88-$199/month for surviving 503A compounded semaglutide. Novo has also announced all three brands will drop to a $675/month list price on January 1, 2027.

Semaglutide Price by Product, 2026

ProductFormList priceSelf-pay / cashInsured (savings card)
Wegovy penWeekly injection$1,349/month$199 intro, then $349as low as $25/month
Wegovy HD penWeekly injection$1,349/month$399/month$25/month
Wegovy pillDaily tablet$149-$299/month$25/month
Ozempic penWeekly injection~$998/month$199 intro, then $349 ($499 for 2 mg)$25/month
Ozempic pillDaily tablet~$998/month$149 / $199 / $299 by dose$25 for up to 3 mo
RybelsusDaily tablet~$998/month$950-$1,105 retail (GoodRx ~$975)$25/month
Compounded semaglutideInjection (503A)n/a$88-$199/monthnot applicable

Two structural facts drive this table. First, Wegovy (the obesity label) lists higher than Ozempic (the diabetes label) even though both are semaglutide. Second, Novo's own self-pay cash channel is now far cheaper than the list price or any third-party discount card — which is why the GoodRx/SingleCare era of GLP-1 coupons is mostly over.

Semaglutide Injection Price: Ozempic vs Wegovy

The injectable pens are the original and still the most-prescribed form. Their pricing diverged in 2026 as Novo pushed self-pay rates down:

PenList priceNovoCare self-pay
Ozempic 0.25-1 mg~$998/month$199 intro, then $349/month
Ozempic 2 mg~$998/month$499/month
Wegovy 0.25-2.4 mg$1,349/month$199 intro, then $349/month
Wegovy HD 7.2 mg$1,349/month$399/month

The $199 introductory pricing covers the first two fills of the 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg starter doses and runs through June 30, 2026 on Novo's price guide — these windows have rolled before, so confirm at fill time. Government-plan beneficiaries are excluded from all of these self-pay offers even when paying cash. Eligible Medicare patients gain separate access at $50/month starting July 1, 2026, pending CMS determination.

Compounded Semaglutide Price: Cheaper, but Narrowing

Compounded semaglutide used to be the budget hero of the category at $150-$300/month. In 2026 it is cheaper still in places — WellMedr lists $88/month, Sunlight $159/month, several telehealth providers $149/month — but the legal runway shrank dramatically:

  • The FDA declared the semaglutide shortage resolved in February 2025, ending the exemption that allowed mass compounding.
  • A March 2026 wave of 50+ FDA warning letters hit telehealth and compounding firms.
  • On April 30, 2026 the FDA proposed removing semaglutide from the 503B bulks list (comment period through June 29, 2026).

What's left is 503A patient-specific compounding — legal only when a prescriber documents a clinical reason the commercial product can't meet, capped at four "copy" prescriptions per pharmacy per month. The price is attractive, but the access is no longer automatic. We track the survivors and their real prices in cheapest GLP-1.

Semaglutide Tablet Price: The Cheap End of the Molecule

The oral versions reset the floor. The reformulated Ozempic pill (the artist formerly known as Rybelsus) and the Wegovy pill both launched at $149/month for the lowest doses:

TabletDoseCash price
Ozempic/Wegovy pill1.5 mg$149/month
Ozempic/Wegovy pill4 mg$149-$199/month
Ozempic/Wegovy pill9 mg$299/month
Wegovy pill25 mg$299/month
Rybelsus (legacy)3/7/14 mg~$975-$1,105/month

Note the oddity: the old Rybelsus brand still lists near $998/month, while the identical molecule, reformulated as the Ozempic pill, sells for $149. If you're prescribed oral semaglutide, the brand on the label matters enormously. Full detail in semaglutide tablets price and Rybelsus cost.

The Cost-Per-Milligram Angle Nobody Runs

Here's a comparison the coupon sites skip: cost per milligram of drug, which exposes how differently the forms are priced.

FormDrug per monthCash priceCost per mg
Wegovy pen (2.4 mg/week)~10.3 mg$349~$34/mg
Ozempic pen (1 mg/week)~4.3 mg$349~$81/mg
Ozempic/Wegovy pill (9 mg/day)~270 mg$299~$1.10/mg

The pills look almost free per milligram — but that's the trap. Oral semaglutide has very low bioavailability (only a small fraction is absorbed across the gut, which is why a 9 mg daily tablet is needed to approximate the systemic effect of a sub-milligram weekly injection). So you are paying for far more raw drug per month with the tablet precisely because most of it never reaches your bloodstream. Cost per milligram delivered systemically would flip the table back toward the injection. The lesson: don't choose a form on raw mg price — choose on effective dose, tolerability, and the all-in monthly cost. The honest, useful number is still the monthly cash price, not the per-mg figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of semaglutide in 2026? It depends entirely on the product. List prices are ~$1,349/month (Wegovy), ~$998/month (Ozempic and Rybelsus). Real cash prices are far lower: $149/month for the tablet, $199 intro then $349/month for the pen, $25/month with a commercial savings card, and $88-$199/month for compounded.

Why is Wegovy more expensive than Ozempic if both are semaglutide? They're the same molecule with different FDA approvals and dosing. Wegovy (obesity, up to 2.4 mg) lists around $1,349/month; Ozempic (type 2 diabetes, up to 2 mg) lists around $998/month. Self-pay pen prices have largely converged at $349/month.

What's the cheapest semaglutide price? The $149/month Ozempic/Wegovy tablet is the cheapest brand. Surviving 503A compounded semaglutide can be lower ($88-$199/month) but is harder to access after 2026 FDA enforcement. With commercial insurance, the $25/month savings card is the cheapest of all.

Is the semaglutide injection price dropping? Yes. Novo cut self-pay pen pricing to $349/month and has announced the list price for Wegovy, Ozempic, and Rybelsus will fall to $675/month on January 1, 2027.

Does the semaglutide price include the doctor visit? NovoCare cash prices are for the medication only and require a prescription you already hold. Telehealth subscriptions usually bundle the online evaluation into the monthly price.
